Welcome
to the web
site of the Bristol Harbour
Floating
Community.

Bristol's "Floating Harbour" is fairly unique in the
sense that it is located upstream on a tidal river (the Avon).
The harbour is "floating" by virtue of the fact that it has
massive locks and a containment basin at the downstream end.
These are closed when the tide is going out; hence the
harbour
itself is kept at its optimum level.
There is a wide variety of
craft on the harbour, including quite a few "live aboards".
This
site is intended primarily to serve this floating community.
In addition, there is a wide variety of small and medium sized
enterprise on and around the harbour which supports and serves the
floating community in many different ways. For a list of some of these, click on the "Sponsors" link in the navigating panel on the left.
